About the role

Join our dynamic and supportive team as an UK Payroll Manager. As a Payroll Manager at PwC, you will play a crucial role in overseeing complex payroll processes for our clients. This position demands a comprehensive understanding of UK payroll legislation, exceptional organisational skills, and the ability to manage a team efficiently. The Payroll Manager will ensure compliance, accuracy, and timeliness in payroll operations.

What your days will look like:
  • Lead, mentor, and grow the payroll team to ensure high performance and continuous professional development.
  • Manage end-to-end payroll processes across multiple clients, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with UK legislation.
  • Build strong client relationships and provide expert guidance on payroll matters, including regulatory updates.
  • Ensure legal compliance, deliver detailed payroll reports, and stay current with legislative changes to implement necessary updates.
  • Drive efficiency by evaluating and enhancing payroll systems and processes, and contribute to business development initiatives.


This role is for you if:
  • Proven experience as a Payroll Manager within large organisations or accountancy firms, with deep knowledge of UK payroll legislation and best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams effectively, coupled with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Skilled in managing complex payroll systems and data, with a sharp analytical mindset and strong attention to detail.
  • Familiar with payroll software and systems, with advanced IT proficiency considered a strong asset.
  • Must possess a CIPP Qualification (or an international equivalent) or have equivalent work experience. This includes international candidates who qualify through experience in their home country.
  • Brings added value through experience with international payroll operations.
