Job summary

Syensqo is seeking a Payroll & Benefits Team Leader UK to oversee a team of 3 specialists and ensure accurate, compliant UK payroll processing. The role blends leadership, operational ownership, vendor management, and payroll transformation initiatives.

The successful candidate will have extensive UK payroll experience, knowledge of payroll controls, and a track record of driving process improvements in a complex environment. This is a hybrid role based in Wrexham.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of UK payroll experience in a complex organisation.
• Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation, taxation, statutory requirements, and year-end processes.
• Experience leading, coordinating, or coaching payroll professionals.
• Experience working with outsourced payroll providers.
• Strong analytical and root-cause problem-solving capability.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and develop a team of 3 Payroll & Benefits Specialists.
• Own end-to-end operational Payroll & Benefits delivery for the UK.
• Ensure payroll is processed accurately, compliantly, and on time.
• Oversee payroll reconciliations, controls, payroll accounting, and post-payroll activities.
• Maintain SOPs, work instructions, and process documentation.
