An established industry player is seeking qualified Biomedical Scientists to join their Humanitarian Register. This role offers the chance to deploy internationally and provide critical laboratory support in emergency healthcare settings. Role: Biomedical Scientist
Remuneration: GBP £3,400 – GBP £4,000 Gross per month (Dependent on the level of role & the adversity of the context)
Hours: UK-Med Register role, no guarantee of any work, but if deployed work will be full-time.
Duration: Register members who deploy will be offered fixed-term contracts. The duration will depend on the requirements of the response, but most responses are between 4 and 12 weeks.
Location: Internationally and/or to any of the UK-Med responses.
We are currently seeking experienced Biomedical Scientists who can deploy internationally at short notice for a minimum of 4–6 weeks (longer availability is highly desirable) to support our emergency responses around the world, including in ongoing crises such as Gaza.
Our Ideal Candidate
You are a qualified and experienced Biomedical Scientist, with a strong background in conducting diagnostic laboratory tests, managing laboratory equipment, and ensuring high standards of quality control and assurance. You are confident in working across various disciplines such as haematology, microbiology, or clinical biochemistry, and can adapt your skills to resource-limited and emergency settings.
You hold valid professional registration and membership with a recognised regulatory body. Previous experience working in humanitarian, low-resource, or field-based settings is highly desirable.
You are flexible, collaborative, and solution-focused, able to maintain high levels of accuracy and safety under pressure. Strong communication skills and the ability to train or mentor others in laboratory best practices are an asset. Additional language skills are advantageous.
