The Opportunity

The UK Head of Treasury is an experienced senior Finance professional responsible for all Treasury activities in the UK. They will serve as the Treasury subject matter expert for all internal and external stakeholders as well as driving specific global initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drawing on specialist experts within the Firm, recommend to Finance and UK Leadership appropriate levels of required funding, and lead on negotiating appropriate funding from our lenders as required
  • Manage cash flow and liquidity forecasts for the Firm and subsidiaries, including sensitivity analysis
  • Review treasury policies, proposing amendments as necessary and seeking Finance Sub-Committee approval for such amendments
  • Manage and monitor the financial risks for the Firm in accordance with policies, including interest rate and currency exchange risk
  • Drive the UKI Finance strategy as a member of the senior management team
  • Work closely with the Global Treasury community to identify and leverage leading practices
  • Lead and develop a team of varying levels of experience to deliver operational excellence
  • Ensure the Firm is compliant with financial and legal regulations relating to Treasury as well as the Firm’s Independence rules
  • Forecast, review and report on covenant compliance
  • Day to day operations and management of banking facilities, bank relationships and account management including periodic review of bank accounts
  • Ensure all Treasury accounting adheres to policy and accounting standards
  • Manage and maintain details of bank authorised signatories and electronic banking users as per policy
  • Manage monthly Treasury accounting reconciliations and statutory audit process
  • Lead on Treasury efficiency and automation projects

Secondary Responsibilities

  • Day to day management of the Firm’s insurances
  • Manage annual insurance renewal process

  • Self-starter able to operate within a complex and global matrix environment; manages differing initiatives/priorities/stakeholders effectively and efficiently.
  • Experience in leading, managing and coaching a team of finance professionals in multiple locations across geographies.
  • Ability to challenge assumptions and decisions at a senior level in an appropriate manner.
  • Highly influential with ability to inspire and lead both the Treasury team and the wider Finance team.

Client Service

  • Leads by example in driving exceptional client service; promotes quality management.
  • Drives interactions that build trust with key stakeholders (internal and external); provides clear and concise communication.
  • Leverages leading practices to drive operational excellence within the Treasury team and more widely across Finance.

Financial and commercial acumen

  • Treasury subject matter expert with a proven track record of displaying financial and commercial acumen, with the ability to advise on highly complex material issues that have the potential to deliver an improved financial outcome.
  • Able to quickly demonstrate strong understanding and insights of EY’s financial performance and provide guidance to wider team members on the application of those insights to support improved business performance.

Strategic thinking and continuous improvement

  • Collaborate across Finance leadership and wider business stakeholder groups to develop and deploy solutions which will benefit Client Servers.
  • Translate EY Global Strategy in a meaningful and impactful way for the UK Treasury team and create an environment where every person understands how their role contributes to our overall vision.

Communication

  • Able to build rapport quickly at all levels, to communicate with gravitas and authority.
  • Presents and communicates clearly, concisely and persuasively.
  • Effectively engages with key stakeholders to seek feedback and deliver continuous service improvement.
  • Exceptional written and oral presentation skills with the ability to present complex information in a clear and articulate manner.
  • Act as a key member of the Finance Leadership team and as a role model, influencer and advocate of Finance agreed actions.
  • Play a full role in the D&I responsibilities to ensure we make EY Finance a more inclusive place to work.
  • Foster an environment where best practice is shared across UKI and with the Global Treasury community.
