Job summary

Equans is seeking an LV Jointers Mate to join our cable connection team for a long-term street lighting maintenance contract across Kent. The role is based from the Sittingbourne office and requires working in live environments with strict HSQE adherence and PPE usage.

You will assist with cable jointing tasks, contribute to risk assessments, and support operations with site setups, energisation/disconnection records, and as-built drawings where applicable.

Qualifications

• Basic health and safety knowledge.
• Manual handling experience.
• Experience on electrical infrastructure projects, focus on high voltage systems (not required to be electrically biased).
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Responsibilities

• Carry out Site Specific Risk Assessments prior to site activities.
• Set up sites in accordance with chapter 8 of NRSWA street works code of practice.
• Fulfil HSQE responsibilities per company policies and management plans.
• Ensure safe transport of materials to/from site and proper disposal where applicable.
• Install ducting systems to DNO specifications and install cable to DNO specs.
• Support jointers when carrying out cable jointing tasks in live environments.
• Maintain safety and compliance with operating procedures and distribution safety rules.
• Liaise with the DNO control centre and report hazards using the AIMS hotline.

This position is based from our Sittingbourne office.Key activitiesTo carry out Site Specific Risk Assessment prior to any site activities electronically on Tablet providedTo set up site in accordance with chapter 8 of NRSWA street works code of practiceTo fulfil Health, Safety, Quality & Environmental (HSQE) responsibilities by adherence to the requirements of the Company's HSQE Policies and HSQE Management PlansTo comply with the Company’s Policies, Management Plans, Procedures and to work alongside the companies distribution safety rulesTo ensure that all materials are transported to and from site in a safe and secure manner without damage and disposed of correctly where applicableTo install ducting systems to DNO specificationsTo install cable to DNO specificationsTo prepare and commence with their work activities and assist with the duties of a jointers mate whilst the jointer is carrying out cable jointing tasks as per the adopting utilities requirementsTo ensure that whilst carrying out works in a live environment that they are working in a manner that complies with companies Operational Procedures and distribution safety rules.
