Senior Unified Communications Consultant – Microsoft Teams Voice & Avaya Migration

Location: Remote (UK-based preferred) with occasional customer site visits

Role Overview:

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Unified Communications Consultant to lead and deliver a full discovery and transformation report for the migration of an enterprise Avaya on-premise telephony environment to Microsoft Teams Voice. The successful candidate will produce a detailed consulting report covering current architecture, Teams deployment options, migration stages, risks, and support strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead discovery workshops with client stakeholders across IT, Network, Telephony, and Security.
• Assess existing Avaya telephony architecture, including PBXs, call routing, SBCs, integrations, and trunking.
• Map current architecture to the target Microsoft Teams architecture using Direct Routing, Operator Connect, and Calling Plans.
• Evaluate deployment options, risks, dependencies, and organisational readiness.
• Develop a staged migration strategy with timelines, costs, and technical steps.
• Produce a comprehensive report including executive summary, recommendations, migration stages, risks, architecture evolution, integrations, commercial model, and appendices with diagrams and artifacts.
• Proven experience in enterprise PBX to Teams Voice migrations.
• Deep knowledge of Avaya systems and Microsoft Teams Voice ecosystem.
• Familiarity with compliance, regulatory requirements, and integrations.
• Experience in creating high-quality customer-facing consulting artifacts.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
• Certifications: Microsoft Teams Voice Engineer Expert, Avaya certifications, experience with compliance recording platforms, and service frameworks.
