Job description

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Regulatory Affairs Director to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for organizing strategic financial and technical analyses and advocacy regarding Apollo's and Athene's businesses in the U.K. and E.U. regions. You will support the firm's regulatory initiatives related to insurance regulation and solvency, as well as the creation and tailoring of investment products for the region. Additionally, you will support global regulatory initiatives concerning private credit and non-bank financial intermediation. Your role involves understanding and advocating for global and regional regulatory policies, and building strong governmental, regulatory, and peer company relationships.


The role requires the ability to analyze complex technical issues related to U.K. and E.U. regulatory policies and to produce content and analysis for internal and external communication. You will also support other executives, particularly Apollo's General Counsel for EMEA and the EVP Head of Government Affairs of Athene.

Primary Responsibilities
  1. Engage as a regulatory policy expert: Conduct in-depth analysis and advocacy on key policy matters, including:
  • Insurance regulation and solvency
  • Creation and tailoring of investment products for the U.K. and E.U.
  • Regulatory engagement regarding global initiatives in private credit and non-bank financial intermediation.
  • Coalition Building: Organize engagement with U.K. and E.U. trade associations and peer companies, monitor issues and positions, and contribute to strategic positioning.
  • Craft effective messaging: Analyze complex regulatory issues and translate them into clear memos, reports, and presentations for stakeholders.
  • Lead with agility: Manage diverse workstreams and collaborate with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Be a strategic partner: Identify challenges proactively and propose innovative solutions, demonstrating a positive and committed attitude.
  • Collaborate across enterprise-wide businesses at Apollo and with other teams, understanding and advocating for the implications of regulatory changes and developing proactive strategies.
  • Qualifications & Experience
    • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degrees or certifications such as MBA, CFA, FRM, JD are preferred.
    • Strong analytical skills with financial data acumen.
    • At least 7 years of experience in the financial sector, with some experience in a regulatory environment.
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of conveying complex information effectively to diverse audiences.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in dynamic, fast-paced settings.
