Job summary

Alder Hey Children's NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a dedicated Lead Nurse for Cancer Services to support teenagers and young adults (13–24) with age-appropriate activities inside the hospital and in community settings. The role spans paediatric, adult and TYA areas, with potential travel across the region.

Responsibilities include coordinating 1:1 and group activities, supporting transition, and involving patients in service development while maintaining safeguarding and records.

Qualifications

• Diploma or equivalent in youth work, psychology or social sciences.
• Experience with young people aged 13–25 and safeguarding.
• Ability to coordinate and facilitate group activities in hospital settings.

Responsibilities

• Establish relationships with young people and con-duct age-appropriate activities.
• Plan 1:1 and small-group activities and accompany them in hospital.
• Coordinate outreach activities outside hospital and support transition.
• Develop feedback methods and involve young people in service development.
• Maintain records of activities, risk assessments and safeguarding.
• Collaborate with teams and external organisations for joint activities.
