(12bdc) We are a family of four looking for good-humoured and flexible personal assistants to provide support at home for our 16-year-old son. The role involves supporting one parent with our son's care routine or working with another PA when parents are out. Our son has significant disabilities requiring specialist care. He can talk, loves to laugh and joke, and is a full-time wheelchair user needing support with all daily activities.
He enjoys playing musical instruments, boardgames, card games, PlayStation/iPad games, and loves animals. The main activities include playing at home, discussing his favorite musicians, and occasional visits to farms, owl sanctuaries, or swimming. Transport will be via public transport or family driving, with occasional holiday trips.
Hours: Up to 20 hours a week, flexible during school holidays. Typical hours include Friday afternoons/evenings, Saturday mornings (and afternoons if available), and Sunday mornings, with additional sessions during school term if possible. Flexibility in hours and team arrangements are possible.
Requirements: Experience with children with disabilities preferred; personality, flexibility, and a sense of humor are most important. Experience with autism is useful.
Pay Rate: £13.09 per hour. 5.6 weeks holiday (pro-rata). Expenses covered. Post subject to DBS check and references (costs covered by Northumberland County Council).
