A leading residential care home is looking for a compassionate Caregiver for evening shifts. You will assist residents with personal care, ensure their comfort, and maintain a safe and supportive environment. Ideal candidates will be reliable and have strong communication skills, dedicated to providing high-quality, person-centred care.

Hours: 3 days per week, 18:45 23:00 (Twilight shift, on a rolling rota) / £12.38 per hour

To support residents during the evening period by providing high-quality, person-centred care that upholds dignity, independence, and choice. The role involves assisting with personal care routines, preparing residents for the night, and ensuring a calm, safe, and supportive environment within the home.
Support residents with evening personal care needs, including washing, changing into nightwear, oral hygiene, and continence care.
Assist residents in preparing for bed in accordance with individual care plans and preferences.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, including fluid intake charts, turn charts, and incident logs.
Provide physical and emotional reassurance to residents during the twilight hours.
Monitor residents well-being and promptly report any concerns, including changes in physical or mental condition, to senior staff.
Assist with the use of mobility aids and hoists in a safe and dignified manner, following all moving and handling protocols.
Encourage relaxation and calm in the evening by promoting quiet activities or one-to-one engagement as appropriate.
Ensure resident rooms are tidy, beds are made, and night-time supplies (e.g. incontinence products, water) are in place.
Support residents who may require additional care during periods of illness or anxiety at night.
Offer drinks and light refreshments during the evening, as required or requested.
Answer call bells and assist residents in a timely and compassionate manner.
Promote and maintain a clean, safe, and homely environment in line with infection control and health & safety guidelines.
Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate empathy, patience, and respect in all resident interactions.
Welcome and assist visitors as needed, including healthcare professionals or family members arriving during the twilight period.
Attend and complete all required training, including mandatory and refresher courses.
Participate in handovers and contribute to the effective communication of resident needs to day and night staff.
Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, including the Care Standards Act and Health & Safety at Work Act.
Engage in ongoing personal development and training relevant to the role.
Be willing to undertake specific responsibilities (e.g. Key Worker duties or Champion Roles) as delegated by management.
