Job description

38.25 hours per week, 42 weeks a year
Salary – £23,368 per annum (based on experience).
Full training and development programme provided.

The below information regarding our Tutor role is also applicable to student placements.

JOB SPECIFICATION : TUTOR (Teaching Assistant)

Hours: Monday to Friday 8.45am to 5.00pm, 4:30 finish on Fridays

Direct Supervisor: Class Leader and Teacher in Charge

School year: Approx. 42 weeks a year across three terms.

Location: Grinstead Lane, Sharpthorne, East Sussex, RH19 4HP

Probation period: Six months

A typical day
  • Providing direct teaching and support to our pupils following their own individual targets.
  • Prepare your resources and plan for your sessions so you can deliver a smooth lesson focusing on communication and life skills using Applied Behavioural Analysis.
  • Support pupils when attending group sessions, participating in external activities such as swimming, horse riding or trampolining.
  • Assisting in snack and lunch duties including supporting healthy food choices.
  • Provide behavioural management support to help reduce behaviours.
  • Track and log pupil progress throughout the day collaborating with the team if targets need to be adjusted.
  • Attend after school training and complete relevant paperwork.
