Job description

Are you searching for an opportunity that recognises the impact of passionate, engaging education and its empowering effect on learners throughout the UK?

Do you want to make a significant difference in the lives of young people in your local community?

Then join Fleet Education Services as a professional Maths, English or Science Tutor – help us inspire the minds of the next generation.

We are a leading nationwide provider of alternative and supplementary education to schools and local authorities, supporting children from all backgrounds through one-to-one and small group tuition programmes. We provide quality assured tuition, delivered by the best educators who share in our aim to ensure that every learner we support thrives – we’re searching for impassioned Tutors that can help us realise our vision for education.

The role

We have received referrals for 10+ learners situated in Sydenham + Lewisham who require significant alternative provision. These learners will require dedicated, in-person support within their own homes to enable their academic success and future development as they are outside of mainstream schooling – tuition has been requested for each learner in English, Maths and Science at either primary or GCSE level depending on their requirements. 5-10 hours of tuition a week will be required per subject for each learner on a weekly basis.

As a Tutor, your knowledge and expertise will play a leading role in improving the self-confidence and subject knowledge of your learner, fuelling the growth of those who are struggling to meet age-related academic expectations.

Supported by our committed, outcome focused delivery team, we will liaise with our clients to ensure that we provide consistent tutoring opportunities for you. Tuition hours offered will be tailored to your availability, ensuring that you have as many hours as needed or can tutor around other existing commitments.

Having received considerable demand for both GCSE and primary level tuition, we welcome all applications from exceptional KS3 - KS4 educators that specialise in either English, Maths or Science.

Learners referred to us may demonstrate complex learning requirements - distinct experience of working with children who present the following will be ideal:

  • Special educational needs (SEN) such as autism spectrum disorder (ASD), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and Dyslexia or Dyspraxia
  • Social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs
  • Childhood trauma

Key responsibilities

  • Create lesson plans and deliver tuition that is designed to engage, inspire and teach.
  • Monitor your learner’s progress and provide constructive feedback to foster continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with your learner’s guardians/teachers to ensure their academic success.
  • Maintain accurate records of tutoring sessions and learner performance through our virtual learning platform.

What we offer

  • Competitive weekly renumeration through PAYE.
  • Control over your workload; flexible roles that fit around your existing commitments and availability with full time equivalent hours available.
  • Ongoing training opportunities that count towards your CPD and provide insight into working with SEN learners.
  • A dedicated Tuition Consultant who will work closely with you to ensure you have as much work as you are able to fulfil, matching you to opportunities that meet your preferences.

Requirements

  • Must hold a Bachelor’s level degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum 6 months UK teaching/tutoring experience.
  • Must live and be eligible to work in the UK.
  • Must hold or be willing to undertake a full Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and referencing process, as well as subscribing to the DBS Update Service.
  • 2 professional references.
  • Experience supporting students with SEN, SEMH and other complex needs.
