Specialist Home Tutor Required: Therapeutic, Play-Based Support (1:1)

Location: PE13 Area (Wisbech/Cambridgeshire) Hours: 15 hours per week (Flexible days/times, ideally split into daily blocks) Rate: Highly Competitive (Based on experience and specialization)

The Opportunity

We are seeking a dedicated, empathetic, and highly skilled Home Tutor to provide specialized 1:1 support for a young male client in the PE13 area. This role is not standard academic tutoring; it requires a unique focus on therapeutic, play-based intervention to build foundational skills and emotional regulation.

This student has a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), presents with significant anxiety, struggles with communication, and requires a consistent, highly structured routine.

Your Primary Focus

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  1. Therapeutic Engagement: Using play-based approaches (e.g., Attention Autism, Intensive Interaction, or similar methods) to develop shared attention, turn-taking, and social interaction skills.

  2. Emotional Regulation: Building a strong, trusting relationship to help the student feel safe, manage anxiety, and successfully navigate transitions without becoming dysregulated.

  3. Bespoke Learning: Delivering tailored, 1:1 sessions focusing on foundational literacy, numeracy, and problem-solving through hands-on, engaging, and highly visual activities.

Essential Requirements

To be eligible for this high-impact role, you must meet the following criteria:

  • SEN Experience (Non-Negotiable): Proven, significant experience working directly with children who have Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and high levels of anxiety or Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA).

  • Therapeutic Skillset: Experience utilizing therapeutic or specialized play techniques (e.g., Intensive Interaction, TEACCH, Identiplay) to facilitate engagement and communication.

  • Qualifications: A strong background in education or specialized support (e.g., QTS, experienced HLTA, or relevant qualification in SEN/Child Development).

  • DBS: Must hold an Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service for immediate commencement.

If you are a compassionate professional who thrives on seeing measurable progress in students with complex needs, we encourage you to apply. Please submit your CV detailing your experience with ASC and therapeutic support.
