A regional college in York and North Yorkshire is seeking an enthusiastic Award Leader for the BA 3D Creative Practice course. The role involves academic leadership, ensuring high standards of teaching, and providing pastoral support to students. Ideal candidates should have experience in 3D art and craftsmanship, with skills in wood, metal, and ceramics, plus a strong understanding of the higher education sector. This position offers a salary up to £41,313 pro rata and generous benefits including annual leave and pension.
The Art and Design Curriculum Area has delivered outstanding provision over a number of years with a high profile both regionally and nationally and offers a broad range of provision from Level 1 through to BA Honours degree courses. We require an enthusiastic and creative Award Leader to take overall responsibility and lead the BA 3D Creative Practice course. This programme offers a broad introduction to wood, metal, fine metal, ceramics, mixed media and textiles. Through the course, students are given the opportunity to develop their skills and knowledge to become independent creative practitioners. Students develop a range of skills through individual practice to be either a sculptor, craftsperson or designer-maker. The programme is delivered through Studio Practice, Professional Development and Contextual Studies modules. An awareness of contemporary and historical knowledge as well as an ability to deliver business and professional skills is also desirable. In this role you will be a part of a dedicated and high skilled team that teach and assist learners across the different levels and modules.
You should have a working knowledge of the HE sector and a developed 3D based art, craft or design-based practice. You should also have experience of leading a course that offers a rich and dynamic experience to learners. The Award Leader will be required to offer pastoral support, ensuring student attainment and progression whilst studying with us. The ability to deliver either wood, metal / fine metal or ceramics skills is highly desirable. Those with mixed media knowledge would also be considered.
