Job summary

London Borough of Redbridge is seeking an experienced Turnaround Family Worker to join its Youth Justice & Targeted Prevention Service on a temporary maternity cover basis, based at Station Road Centre, Barkingside, Ilford.

This role provides intensive support to children, young people and families facing complex challenges, delivering tailored interventions, parenting support, and working with social care, education, health, police, probation and community partners to prevent offending and

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Social Care, Counselling, Youth Work or related field.
• Experience undertaking family assessments and delivering interventions.
• Knowledge of child development, challenging behaviour and family dynamics.
• Experience in a multi-agency environment.
• Strong communication, relationship-building and case-recording skills.
• Knowledge of Parenting Orders and youth justice interventions.
• Commitment to safeguarding, equality and anti-discriminatory practice.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Act as the Responsible Officer for Parenting Orders.

• Maintain accurate case records and contribute to Youth Justice assessments and planning.

Contract: Agency / Interim - Maternity Cover

Hours: 36 hours per week

Service: Youth Justice & Targeted Prevention

The London Borough of Redbridge is seeking an experienced and passionate Turnaround Family Worker to join its Youth Justice & Targeted Prevention Service on a temporary maternity cover basis.

This is an opportunity to work directly with children, young people and families experiencing complex challenges, providing intensive support and interventions to prevent offending, reduce anti-social behaviour and achieve positive, sustainable outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Undertake holistic family assessments and identify support needs.
• Develop and deliver tailored intervention and support plans.

About You

You will have significant experience working with children, young people and families, ideally within youth justice, targeted prevention or a similar setting.

You will have:

• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Social Care, Counselling, Youth Work or a related field.

• Full UK driving licence.

Desirable: Experience with evidence-based parenting programmes such as Triple P or Strengthening Families, alongside knowledge of restorative and trauma-informed approaches.

Enhanced DBS clearance is required. Flexible working, including evenings and occasional weekends, may be required.

Mandatory: Must have a UK Passport or a Full Right to Work in the UK
