Job description

Join our dynamic team as the Tunnel Supervisor on the M25 DBFO Network, where you will lead a skilled team of M&E Maintenance Technicians. In this role, you will be responsible for briefing your team, conducting site visits to ensure safety and efficiency, and overseeing people management for the workforce.

You will liaise with stakeholders such as the Tunnel Maintenance Manager, O&M Schedulers, Highways England, and sub-contractors. This position offers the chance to contribute to maintaining one of the UK’s busiest transport networks, impacting safety and operational efficiency.

What you will be doing:
  • Operate electrical/mechanical plant within the Dartford River Crossing, M25 Tunnels, and pump stations.
  • Drive Zero Harm safety objectives and promote a proactive safety culture.
  • Support delivery of Business Plan Objectives by setting SMART goals for your team.
  • Prepare and deliver work briefings, highlighting hazards and control measures.
  • Manage work activities to ensure methodology adherence and safety.
  • Engage with workforce to address issues and develop solutions for safe, efficient work completion.
  • Conduct debriefs after each shift to resolve issues and incorporate lessons learned.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual, environmental, and weather-related requirements.
  • Perform pre-site inspections to plan work methodology and resource needs.
  • Manage day-to-day people management tasks, including development, training, and performance management.
  • Maintain resource levels, identify risks, and propose solutions.
  • Keep accurate records of activities, resources, and costs for accountability and assurance.
  • Participate in risk assessments and method statements, contributing to their improvement.
  • Deliver toolbox talks and promote workforce engagement.
  • Manage fleet and ensure compliance with driver and vehicle regulations.
  • Live the company values and focus on Zero Harm and sustainability initiatives.
Who we are looking for?

The following qualities and experience are essential:

Qualifications & Skills:
  • SSSTS or SMSTS
  • Recognised Electrical Apprenticeship
  • 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations
  • LV & HV Authorised Person (a plus)
  • MEWPS, Confined Space, Inspection & Testing (C&G 2391), Approved Person for HV & LV
Knowledge and Experience:
  • Generators and switchgear up to 11KV
  • Fault finding with schematics
  • Electrical, electronic, and mechanical maintenance experience
  • Health & Safety legislation knowledge
  • Electrical installation skills compliant with current regulations
  • Experience in road tunnels or building maintenance
  • Highway maintenance project delivery experience
  • Knowledge of health, safety, quality, and environmental standards
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Valid UK driving license
  • Leadership of multidisciplinary teams
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills

Location & Working Hours:

Depot-based at the Tunnels with travel as required. Line management of operatives. Day shifts (Monday-Friday 08:00-17:00) and night shifts (Monday-Friday 20:00-05:00, every 3 months).
