Job summary

EDF is seeking a Tunnel Preconstruction Manager for Sizewell C to lead method development, execution strategies and constructability reviews on major tunnelling works. You will coordinate cross‑discipline inputs, manage interfaces between onshore and offshore sections, and drive safety‑led planning across the project lifecycle.

Reporting through the Civil Works Alliance, you will guide scope definition, procurement support and ECI engagement while ensuring alignment with UK health and safety

Qualifications

• Significant experience in major infrastructure tunnelling projects, including pre-construction planning and constructability reviews.
• Experience delivering projects across lifecycle in complex, regulated environments.
• Collaborative leader with safety leadership, clarity, respect and humility.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Ability to lead technical reviews, drive collaboration and influence decisions.
• Integrate technical, programme and commercial considerations into clear strategies.
• Knowledge of UK construction and health & safety legislation.
• Lead multidisciplinary workstreams relating to scope pre-construction activities.
• Engage with logistics and tunnelling surface works teams for launch requirements.
• Develop inputs underpinning scope definition, pricing and risk allowances.
• Manage consultants and contractors during early contractor involvement (ECI).
• Embed constructability into the detailed design process with the design team.
• Engage supply chain and support ECI engagement as required.
• Lead technical submissions to approve TOC for tunnelling scope.

Responsibilities

• Develop construction methodologies that optimise safety, programme certainty and productivity.
• Lead development of method-led execution strategies for tunnelling works and launch shafts.
• Lead constructability reviews to manage interfaces and mitigate risks.
• Define requirements for working space, access routes, temporary facilities, utilities and logistics.
