Job summary

Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust is seeking a part-time Band 6 TB Nurse (22.5 hours/week) to join the TB nursing team across Charing Cross, Hammersmith and St Mary’s. You will care for adults and children in inpatient and outpatient settings, including work at HMP Wormwood Scrubs, contributing to TB elimination and public health goals.

You will work within a supportive MDT, gain TB-specific experience, and have opportunities for further specialist development while balancing flexible shifts.

Qualifications

• NMC registered nurse with current PIN.
• Experience in community, medicine, respiratory, HIV, Infectious Diseases or TB.
• Experience with vulnerable adults and children, including homelessness and substance misuse.

Responsibilities

• Manage a designated caseload of adult and paediatric patients.
• Collaborate with UKHSA, pan London Find & Treat and other TB services.
• Deliver safe, effective, and compassionate care aligned with NICE guidelines.
• Promote public health and raise TB awareness within clinical settings and community.
• Provide specialist nursing care and support families and carers.
• Oversee care including contact tracing, screening and Cohort Review.
• Involve community visits, phlebotomy and Directly Observed Therapy (DOT).
• Participate in staff education and service improvement.

Main duties of the job

• Manage a designated caseload of adult and paediatric patients.
• Collaborate with the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA), pan London Find & Treat services, and other TB services across London.
• Deliver safe, effective, and compassionate care aligned with NICE guidelines and the National Collaborative TB Strategy.
• Promote public health and raise TB awareness within both clinical settings and the wider community.
• You will provide specialist nursing expertise to ensure the delivery of high-quality, person-centred care for patients with suspected or confirmed TB, whilst supporting their families and carers. Working both autonomously and as an integral member of a multi-disciplinary team, you will contribute to achieving local and national TB targets through effective case management.
• Your role will involve overseeing the care of a designated caseload, including contact tracing, screening, and participation in Cohort Review
• This is a varied role requiring flexibility, including community-based work such as home, school, or workplace visits to carry out assessments, phlebotomy, and Directly Observed Therapy (DOT).
• You will also play an active part in staff education and service improvement, contributing to audits, supporting team development, and delivering ward-based teaching. In collaboration with senior nursing colleagues, you will be involved in initiatives that enhance the TB service and improve outcomes across our diverse patient population.

Person specification

• Diploma / first level degree in nursing or related subject
• SLICE or equivalent
