Job summary

Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust is seeking a Band 6 TB Nurse for a part-time role (22.5 hours/week) across London TB services including Charing Cross, Hammersmith, St Mary’s and HMP Wormwood Scrubs. The post involves inpatient/outpatient TB care for adults and children, with opportunities to develop TB-specific expertise in a dynamic multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with UKHSA, Find & Treat London, and other TB services.
• Deliver care aligned with NICE guidelines and National Collaborative TB Strategy.
• Promote TB awareness and public health within clinical settings and the community.
• Provide specialist nursing expertise supporting families and carers.
• Oversee contact tracing, screening and Cohort Review for TB cases.
• Include home, school or workplace visits for assessments, phlebotomy and DOT.
• Contribute to education, audits and service improvement within the TB service.

Band 6 Tuberculosis (TB) Nurse – Part Time (22.5 hours per week). Are you a compassionate, proactive nurse who is passionate about improving public health? Do you want to play a vital role in tackling TB across London? We are looking for an enthusiastic NMC-registered nurse to join our friendly and highly skilled TB nursing team.

As a valued member of our tri-site TB service across Charing Cross Hospital, Hammersmith Hospital, and St Mary’s Hospital, you will provide high-quality care to both adults and children, in inpatient and outpatient settings. Our service also delivers TB healthcare at HMP Wormwood Scrubs, offering you a truly varied and impactful role.

• Manage a designated caseload of adult and paediatric patients.
• Collaborate with the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA), pan London Find & Treat services, and other TB services across London.
• Deliver safe, effective, and compassionate care aligned with NICE guidelines and the National Collaborative TB Strategy.
• Promote public health and raise TB awareness within both clinical settings and the wider community.
• You will provide specialist nursing expertise to ensure the delivery of high-quality, person-centred care for patients with suspected or confirmed TB, whilst supporting their families and carers. Working both autonomously and as an integral member of a multi-disciplinary team, you will contribute to achieving local and national TB targets through effective case management.
• Your role will involve overseeing the care of a designated caseload, including contact tracing, screening, and participation in Cohort Review
• This is a varied role requiring flexibility, including community-based work such as home, school, or workplace visits to carry out assessments, phlebotomy, and Directly Observed Therapy (DOT).
• You will also play an active part in staff education and service improvement, contributing to audits, supporting team development, and delivering ward-based teaching. In collaboration with senior nursing colleagues, you will be involved in initiatives that enhance the TB service and improve outcomes across our diverse patient population.
