Days - Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday 5am-5pm (after 6 weeks rotates to Thursday, Friday, Saturday for a further 6 weeks) - Will need flexibility to occasionally work night shifts 5pm-5am.

We have been serving our customers from our Selby site since 1914. We produce more than 160 million units per year across 600 different product lines for customers such as Morrisons, Tesco & Asda.

Pay rates (Overtime is after 36 hours a week x1.25)

Day shift - £14.94 an hour (Rises to £15.36 once the required skill level is achieved)

What you'll be doing

The Tube Operator will work across the specified area as part of the team, supporting activities involved in the improvement and maintenance of tubular heat exchangers and associated equipment. Responsibilities include:

  1. Setting up the tubular heat exchangers for line start-up.
  2. Performing product changeovers, including caustic washouts when necessary.
  3. Managing metal detector reject waste.
  4. Preparing for line start-up by returning pigging spheres to launchers, ensuring pipework is correctly positioned, adjusting heat exchanger settings as per product specifications, liaising with the Sauce Cooking (upstairs) Coordinator, and ensuring product is ready and at the correct temperature for line start-up.
  5. Maintaining regular contact with the Sauce Cooking Coordinator to communicate potential issues affecting line performance or yields.
  6. Performing product changeovers efficiently, including cleaning tanks and transferring the next product, within the timeframes specified.
  7. Monitoring cooking processes and making necessary adjustments to achieve correct product temperatures and adhere to quality standards.
  8. Completing relevant documentation and sign-offs related to product waste.
  9. Assisting the Area Process Leader to improve line efficiency through understanding of production plans, product, equipment, and staffing.
  10. Reporting faults to the engineering department using Mainsaver software.
  11. Resolving minor mechanical and procedural issues.

  • Effective communication skills to liaise with team members, supervisors, and managers.
  • Flexibility, attention to detail, and excellent organizational skills.
  • Training in cleaning chemicals and HACCP can be provided.
  • Understanding of processes and product quality standards.
