Job summary

ConnexAI in Manchester is seeking a TTS Research Scientist to advance real-time, multilingual voice technologies and natural-sounding agents. You will help drive state-of-the-art voice synthesis, exploring voice cloning, prosody control, and emotion to deliver engaging user experiences.

You will collaborate with our in-house Data Annotation team and fellow researchers, publish findings, and contribute to the end-to-end AI agent lifecycle across conferences and projects.

Qualifications

• PhD in Computer Science, Speech & Signal Processing or MSc with 2+ years of research experience.
• Strong knowledge of Generative AI, neural networks and modern LLMs.
• Expert-level Python and PyTorch programming.
• Ability to conduct independent research with minimal supervision.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Research and develop state-of-the-art, high-fidelity, low-latency TTS systems focusing on naturalness, prosody and emotion.
• Develop voice cloning techniques for personalised agent experiences.
• Pair with junior team members to drive research goals and foster collaborative learning.
• Contribute to original research, publish papers, and represent the company at global AI conferences.
• Maintain steady biweekly progress within our sprint-based research environment.
• Write clear and concise technical documentation and research papers.
