Job summary

Santander UK (TSB) is seeking a Senior Operations Analyst to monitor core services and drive observability improvements in Edinburgh on a 12-month fixed-term contract. You will triage incidents, coordinate recovery, and work with IT Operations & supplier teams to minimise disruption.

Ideal candidates bring hands-on monitoring across applications, infrastructure and networks, with ITIL knowledge, strong problem solving, and clear stakeholder communication.

Qualifications

• Experience with monitoring including application services, microservices, infrastructure, middleware, networking & mainframe batch.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities to address incidents and service situations.
• Effective communication to liaise with stakeholders and coordinate recovery teams.
• Proficiency in ITIL service operation processes (operations, incident and problem management).
• Understanding of IT operations and infrastructure (network, server, application layers).
• Knowledge of change management processes to minimise recurrence.
• Previous exposure to banking services (digital banking, ATM, mainframe, Citrix, payments).

Responsibilities

• Monitor bank's core services and develop observability to maximise availability.
• Triage and respond to anomalies to ensure applications, systems, infrastructure remain available.
• Engage with IT and business stakeholders and IT suppliers to coordinate recovery.
• Provide leadership within IT Operations, acting as lead support for a team of analysts.

The role involves monitoring the bank's core business services through industry leading toolsets and the ongoing development of these to ensure that service observability is maximised and continually improved.Inquisitive, problem‑solving skills are required as the role involves the triage and reaction to anomalies within our technology to ensure applications, systems, infrastructure & services remain available to our customers and colleagues. You will be a part of a dedicated team of IT Operations Analysts & Snr Analysts who minimise the impact of incidents on business operations and maintain high service availability and performance standards in line with the bank's objectives. The role involves engagement at all levels within TSB, both IT and business, as well as with the bank's IT suppliers so excellent communications & relationship management skills are key. The role includes responsibility of decision making within the IT Operations team, acting as lead support and directing a team of analysts.

• Ideally experience with various technology monitoring including application services, microservices, infrastructure, middleware, networking & mainframe batch.
• Excellent problem‑solving abilities to address incidents and service situations of varying complexity.
• Effective communication skills to liaise with stakeholders and coordinate technical recovery teams.
• Proficiency in ITIL service operation processes, particularly operations, incident and problem management., but not essential.
• Understanding of IT operations and infrastructure, including network, server, and application layers (beneficial).
• Knowledge of change management processes to minimise the risk of incident recurrence (beneficial).
• Previous technical exposure to banking related services (e.g. digital banking, ATM, Mainframe, distributed applications, Citrix and payments) (beneficial).
