A leading Private Client law firm in London is seeking a Trusts Director to join their team. The role involves managing annual trust accounts, overseeing tax reporting, and advising trustees. Candidates should be STEP qualified and possess a strong understanding of trust taxation. The position offers a salary of £100k-£150k with hybrid working options.
We are working closely with a leading Private Client law firm, who are keen to appoint a Director level adviser to their Trusts & Tax team.
The incoming individual may already be a Director seeking a new challenge in a thriving, growing team. Alternatively, they could be a talented Senior Trust Manager looking to step up to Director grade. Either way, they are likely to be STEP qualified and hold a tax and/or accounting qualification.
The role will involve working alongside a fellow Trust Director, as well as liaising closely with some or the private client profession's leading Partners. Key duties will include:
- Managing the annual trust accounts and tax return compliance cycle
- Overseeing CGT, IHT and income tax reporting and ad hoc planning.
- Advising offshore trustees with UK resident beneficiaries.
- Offering written advice to trustees regarding the financial, tax, and trust law status of trusts under management.
- Overseeing the preparation of IHT returns for 10-year and exit charges.
- Participating in regular trustees meetings, alongside investment managers and other third-party professionals.
- Serving as the primary point of contact for trustees, beneficiaries, clients, and intermediaries.
- Overseeing trust administration, including payments to beneficiaries, coordination with investment managers, investment monitoring, and trustee act policy statements.
- Managing registrations under the trust registration service and AEOI reporting.
The incoming Trusts Director will have a willingness to take on a varied workload encompassing all elements of the work undertaken by the team. Excellent communication and relationship management skills are essential, in addition to a deep understanding of the taxation of trusts.

Salary will be dependent on experience but is likely to be £100k-£150k + bens. Hybrid working is also on offer.
