Job summary

Chance to Shine seeks a Trusts and Foundations Officer to secure funding from trusts and foundations and to develop compelling proposals, budgets, and reports. The role involves coordinating with operations, finance and impact teams to strengthen funder communications and ensure high-quality relationship management.

London-based, with two days in the office weekly and some travel; flexibility to attend meetings and events around the country.

Qualifications

• Essential: excellent written and verbal communication, strong attention to detail, and ability to write engaging proposals and reports.
• Desirable: fundraising experience and/or securing grants from charitable trusts and foundations; experience with Raiser's Edge CRM.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage applications to trusts and foundations with the aim of securing five-figure grants.
• Renew and grow support from funders and maintain strong relationships.
• Collaborate with operations, finance, and impact teams to develop budgets and reports for funders.
• Gather impact data and stories to strengthen funding applications and communications.
• Represent the charity at networking events when required.

This is an exciting opportunity to join Chance to Shine’s fundraising team and help shape the next phase of our growth. The Trusts and Foundations Officer is responsible for securing and growing income from charitable trusts and foundations through the development of funding applications, effective stewardship, and high-quality reporting. The role offers the chance to build funder relationships, contribute to ambitious fundraising plans, and play a key part in enabling more young people to benefit from the power of cricket.

The role would suit a dynamic fundraiser looking to develop their skills and knowledge within an established and ambitious charity.
You may already be working in fundraising or the charity sector, but we would also encourage applicants from other sectors with transferable skills to apply for this position. You could come from a communications, marketing, research, bid writing or relationship management background. If you are a strong writer, enjoy building relationships, can make sense of different types of information and are organised in managing deadlines and detail, many of your skills could transfer well into this role.

This is a London Office based contract. A minimum of two days a week in the office would be required with the option to work from home on the other days. The role holder will need to be flexible as and when they are required to attend meetings, events, mostly in London but elsewhere around the country.

Key Responsibilities

Fundraising

• Apply to a range of trusts, foundations and grant giving bodies who have the potential to give up to five figure annual grants.
• Develop and manage communications with a portfolio of existing supporters with a clear objective to renew support.
• Liaise with operational colleagues to identify projects and priorities for funding, and in consultation with the Senior Trusts & Foundations Manager develop them into compelling projects for funders.
• Liaise with the Operations and Finance & Resources team to develop robust budgets for funding applications.
• Develop strong relationships with trusts and foundations.
• Work with the Operations team and Impact and Evaluation team to prepare reports as required by funders.
• Work with the Impact and Evaluation team to gather impact data and evidence from Chance to Shine programmes to strengthen funding applications and reports.
• Work with the Communications & Marketing team to gather stories from Chance to Shine programmes to support funder communications and applications.
• Assist with other fundraising tasks as required.

Research & Data

• Research and identify prospective foundations to approach for funding.
• Support with briefing senior contacts for meetings and events as needed.
• Maintain effective records of key activities and contacts on Raiser's Edge.
• Regularly update funding pipeline data and report on progress to senior managers as required.

Other

• Be a representative for the charity at networking events where required.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Experience Required

Essential:

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Demonstrable experience of writing engaging proposals/reports

Desirable:

• Demonstrable experience in a fundraising role and/or securing grants from charitable trusts and foundations
• Experience working on Raiser’s Edge or a similar CRM system
