Blue Ventures is a marine conservation organization that supports coastal communities in rebuilding fisheries, restoring ocean life, and creating pathways to prosperity. Our work began in Madagascar and has expanded globally, partnering with traditional fishers and community organizations across multiple countries to design, scale, and sustain fisheries management and conservation efforts.
We bring together partners in networks to advocate for reform and share tools and best practices to support fishing communities worldwide.
Summary Terms of Reference
We currently have nine trustees and three subcommittees focusing on People and Culture, Finance, Risk, and Audit, as well as Safeguarding Reporting.
We seek a trustee with expertise in data governance, digital oversight, and Data Protection compliance to support our digital infrastructure scaling and organizational technology enhancement. This role involves providing strategic guidance on our digital transformation, including ERP and CRM platform implementations, and ensuring data governance frameworks uphold compliance, integrity, and ethics across regions.
The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of data protection laws (GDPR, UK Data Protection Act 2018), practical experience advising on digital risk, cybersecurity, and data architecture in international settings. Experience in the charity or international development sector is advantageous but not mandatory.
Experience in governance and compliance oversight relating to the confidentiality, availability, and integrity of core systems is essential. Knowledge of best practice frameworks such as ITIL, TOGAF, and APM would be beneficial.
