Job description

A position for a Specialty Registrar has become available within the General Surgery and Upper GI department at Ealing Hospital. This is an exciting time to join the department as we have expanded the number of surgeons in recent times, and with strong research platforms in Upper GI Surgery, there are good opportunities for the right candidate to develop their surgical career.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Providing high-quality clinical care to surgical patients in emergency and elective settings.
  2. Participating in on-call rota cover, ward rounds, outpatient clinics, weekly theatre sessions, and multidisciplinary team meetings.
  3. Assisting in the assessment, diagnosis, and management of surgical cases.
  4. Supporting the training and supervision of junior medical staff and medical students.
  5. Contributing to audits, research projects, and quality improvement initiatives within the department, including activities such as Mortality meetings and journal clubs.
  6. Demonstrating a commitment to continuous professional development and adherence to Trust policies and guidelines.

  3. Engaging in multidisciplinary team meetings, case discussions, and clinical audits to ensure high standards of care and safety.
  4. Supervising and mentoring junior medical staff, supporting their professional growth.
  5. Contributing to teaching and training activities for medical students, junior doctors, and other healthcare professionals.
  6. Participating in research, quality improvement, and audit activities to improve clinical outcomes.
  7. Committing to ongoing professional development through relevant training, courses, and conferences.
