Job description

Information: NJC SCP 3, £24,796 (pro rata if working below 37 hours per week)

32 to 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Full year contract.

Are you practical, reliable, and passionate about making a difference in a school community? We are looking for a dedicated Caretaker to join our Trust, ideally working across both Stamford Bridge Primary and Melbourne Primary Schools. What you’ll do:
  • Maintain our school buildings and grounds to a high standard, ensuring a safe, clean, and secure environment for pupils, staff, and visitors.
  • Carry out minor repairs and maintenance (plumbing, carpentry, painting, etc.).
  • Monitor and report any major defects or issues.
  • Ensure all systems (water, heating, lighting, alarms) are operational and carry out routine checks.
  • Open and close the school premises daily, monitor security, and respond to alarms.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and risk assessments, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Support cleaning staff and undertake emergency cleaning when needed.
  • Manage waste disposal and recycling.
  • Maintain outdoor areas, including playgrounds and green spaces.
  • Set up rooms for events, receive deliveries, and liaise with contractors.
What we’re looking for:
  • Experience in caretaking, maintenance, or facilities roles.
  • Basic knowledge of building maintenance and repair.
  • Understanding of health and safety regulations.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Reliable, punctual, and trustworthy.
Desirable (but not essential):
  • Experience in a school or educational setting.
