Job description

Job Title and Summary

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Trust Grade Vascular Surgical Registrar (ST3 level) to join Northampton General Hospital for a 12-month fixed-term post. The successful candidate will work within the Northamptonshire Vascular Service, a dynamic, consultant-led unit providing high-quality care across a full range of vascular procedures, including complex arterial surgery and emergency care.

Opportunities and Responsibilities

This role offers excellent opportunities for surgical exposure, ward-based care, clinics, and operating theatres. The post holder will support vascular surgical consultants in delivering high-quality patient care through ward rounds, theatre duties, outpatient services, and emergency admissions. Responsibilities include:

  1. Participating in daily consultant-led ward rounds
  2. Undertaking theatre duties
  3. Contributing to outpatient services
  4. Taking part in the general/vascular on-call registrar rota (1 in 10)
  5. Documenting clinical findings and admitting patients from the Emergency Department
  6. Supporting junior colleagues

The role also involves engaging in clinical governance, quality improvement projects, audits, teaching activities, and upholding the Trust's values in patient care and teamwork.
