Job description

NUH is looking to appoint a Trust Grade doctor at ST3 or above level to support our Rehabilitation Medicine service at the National Rehabilitation Centre, due to open in 2025. You should have at least 4 years of post-graduate experience, including recent experience in either rehabilitation medicine, or in a related specialty such as neurology, geriatrics, major trauma, orthopaedics and stroke.

The NRC, as a 70-bed standalone hospital under Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust, represents an ambitious step in transforming rehabilitation care. Its core mission is to enhance patient outcomes through cutting-edge multidisciplinary care, advanced training programs, and research initiatives. As a national hub, the NRC will manage complex cases including neurorehabilitation, major trauma recovery, and amputee rehabilitation.

This post will initially be for 12 months however there will be the opportunity to extend upon mutual agreement.

If the opportunity to work in a “world leading, national centre of excellence” which is committed to transforming the provision of clinical rehabilitation in the UK sounds like the next step on your career journey, press the ‘Apply now’ button - we’d love to receive your application!

You will work as part of the registrar cohort based at the NRC where duties will include ward cover and on-calls. There will also be outpatient clinic duties based in City or QMC campuses. You will contribute to the out of hours rota at the NRC which will include both long days and nights. To be eligible for the post, you should have completed core medical training (or the equivalent) and be registered with the GMC. Previous UK experience will be advantageous but not essential as a full shadowing period will be provided where required.

You will be supported to work through competencies to develop portfolio evidence to meet your set objectives and will work under the clinical supervision of a rehabilitation medicine consultant. Candidates who wish to work towards a Portfolio Pathway application will be supported to gain the necessary experience and competencies.

At the NRC, research & innovation, and education & training will be fully integrated with clinical practice. That means that as well as being a national centre of excellence for rehabilitation, the NRC will also be uniquely placed to pioneer international research into clinical rehabilitation, rehabilitation products and technologies as well as attracting experts in the field. The NRC Academic Network will be led by the University of Nottingham and Loughborough University.
