A healthcare provider in London is seeking a Trust Grade F3 Doctor to work in the Trauma and Orthopaedics inpatient unit. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to manage unscheduled admissions, focusing on elderly patients with complex needs. The role involves daily ward reviews and close work with consultants. Opportunities for professional development and wellbeing support are provided.
Kingston Hospital is a busy, flourishing Foundation Trust with approximately 600 beds and a 22 bed private wing. A wide range of acute medical and surgical conditions are dealt with on an inpatient, outpatient and day case basis. Intensive care, coronary care and high dependency facilities are available. Further sub specialities include an active maxillo-facial unit and an eye unit. The General Medical and Care of the Elderly (COE) Services operate from 180 beds including a 5 bedded cardiac step down unit and a 20 bedded stroke unit. In addition there is a 50 bed integrated Acute Assessment Unit (AAU). Specialty Departments within the Medicine include Elderly care, Respiratory Medicine, Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Neurology, Dermatology, Sexual Health, Rheumatology, and Diabetes/ Endocrinology.
The successful post-holder will work on the Trauma and Orthopaedics (T&O) inpatient unit, which consists of 36 beds for unscheduled (emergency) admissions. Typically, up to 80% of these patients will be elderly and/or have multiple and complex co-morbidities.
This is a 12 month fixed term Trust Grade F3 post, working with two consultant Orthogeriatricians, two Specialty Doctors and two F3 Doctors, alongside a team of nurses and therapists. The orthogeriatric team work in partnership with the acute T&O team of consultants and junior doctors. The post holder will be an integral part of the Orthogeriatric Multi Disciplinary Team, comprising of nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, discharge co-ordinator, pharmacist, receptionists and housekeepers. You will have a very close working relationship with the Trauma and Orthopaedic team and the Trauma Anaesthetic consultants. There are daily Consultant ward reviews and daily multi-disciplinary meetings, which focus on a team-based approach to care and discharge planning.
