Job summary

Character Education Trust in Sevenoaks is seeking a capable Finance Assistant to support day-to-day financial operations across our schools. You will help process purchase orders and invoices, maintain accurate records and assist with budget monitoring.

You will reconcile accounts, contribute to financial reporting, and respond to finance queries from colleagues and external suppliers. A proactive, detail‑oriented approach and strong numerical skills are essential.

Job description

Working closely as part of the Trust’s finance team, the successful candidate will support the day-to-day financial operations across both schools, ensuring that financial processes are accurate, efficient and compliant with Trust policies and relevant financial regulations.

Key responsibilities will include processing purchase orders and invoices, maintaining accurate financial records, assisting with budget monitoring, reconciling accounts, supporting financial reporting and responding to finance-related queries from colleagues and external suppliers.

We are looking for someone with excellent organisational skills, strong attention to detail and a proactive, solution-focused approach. The ability to manage competing priorities, maintain confidentiality and build positive working relationships is essential.

Previous experience in a finance or administrative role would be advantageous, although we welcome applications from individuals with strong numerical skills, a willingness to learn and a commitment to delivering a high-quality service.
