A health service provider in Plymouth is seeking a Trust SpR Higher in Plastic Surgery for a 12-month fixed-term appointment. This role offers extensive training and exposure to various subspecialties, including burns, hand surgery, and trauma. Applicants must have GMC registration and evidence of surgical training. We are a dynamic and innovative department seeking to appoint a Trust SpR Higher (ST7+ equivalent) on a fixed-term appointment for 12 months, with potential for extension. Derriford Hospital in Plymouth offers a balanced work/life environment in a coastal setting with access to Dartmoor.
Successful candidates will gain exposure to a broad range of plastic surgery disciplines and will be supported transitioning to the registrar grade from senior house officer. The department operates a consultant-led on-call service with two senior handovers per day.
We offer broad subspecialty exposure and support for senior trainees approaching FRCS (Plast) examination, National Training Number (NTN) applications, and CESR pathways. There is expansion of consultant numbers with supervision and training across elective sub‑specialties including burns, trauma, breast reconstruction, hand surgery, sarcoma surgery, paediatric plastic surgery, skin malignancy, and head and neck surgery.
The weekday on-call service (08:00–17:30) is supported by Advanced Nurse Practitioners and a Physician’s Associate, enabling additional training opportunities.
