Job Summary
Trust Doctor in Ophthalmology
Grade: Trust (post CCT or equivalent)
Hours: Full time (approx 40hours/week)
We are looking for a dedicated and approachable Trust Doctor to join our team in managing ophthalmology services within Leeds. This position would suit a post-CCT doctor who has demonstrable interest in all areas of Ophthalmology with prior training in a higher specialty area. Competence in cataract surgery is also desirable.

We provide specialist services across our centres at Leeds Teaching Hospitals, benefiting from significant investment in recent years to enhance patient care and service delivery. The job comprises a mix of General Ophthalmology work, Ophthalmic Emergencies, a range of sub-speciality work but more specifically Oculoplastics and Glaucoma, Intravitreal Injections, YAG and Retinal Laser. There will be some, but limited, theatre opportunities.
The post requires an immediate start and is a temporary position for 6 months only with no opportunity for extension. Candidates must be fully registered with the General Medical Council and hold a license to practice at the time of appointment.

Essential
- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
- Be eligible for full registration with, and hold a current licence to practise from, the GMC at intended start date
- Eligibility to work in the UK.
- Advanced Life Support Certificate from the Resuscitation Council UK or equivalent (as required to complete Foundation competences) by intended start date
- Is up to date and fit to practise safely and is aware of own training needs.
- Demonstrable skills in written and spoken English adequate to enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues
- Achieved the minimum score of 7 across all 4 of the categories in the academic International English Language Testing System (IELTS) in a single sitting within 24 months at time of applicati
- Achieved the minimum Grade B across all 4 of the categories in the Occupational English Test (OET) in medicine in a single sitting within 24 months at time of application

- 36 months experience after full GMC registration or equivalent, and evidence of achievement of foundation competences, in line with GMC standards / Good Medical Practice
