    Job summary

    We are looking for an enthusiastic colleague to join our dynamic service within Barts Health NHS Trust. The successful applicant will contribute to the Trauma & Orthopaedics combined rota at The Royal London and Newham University Hospital including the Barts Health Orthopaedic Centre (BHOC). This will provide experience in adult and paediatric major trauma care, as well as a full breadth of elective services.

    Applicants should possess full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) in the United Kingdom.Your role will be supported by a large team of fellows and consultants. There are numerous opportunities to get involved with teaching and research as well as completion of quality improvement projects and audit. Career development is supported through a regular registrar teaching programmes and mentoring, to develop individual portfolios and support career progression.

    Main duties of the job

    Continuing responsibility for the care of patients in the trauma and orthopaedic

    service, including all administrative duties associated with patient care.

    Liaison and communication with the Lead Clinician for Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgery and the General Manager and Clinical Director for the Surgery Clinical Academic Group.

    Development of his/her own interests within the specialty complementary to the existing subspecialties of the orthopaedic consultants, including active participation in research programmes.

    Corporate and individual responsibility for the professional management of medical students.

    To contribute to the provision of a comprehensive and efficient trauma and orthopaedic surgical service.

    To provide evidence-based care for all inpatients and outpatients and to work flexibly to the prescribed rota to support the service, including inpatient and outpatient duties.

    To have regard at all times to the clinical and quality standards set out in the NHS Plan, Your Guide to the NHS, and purchaser agreements.
