Job description

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Post CCT Fellow to join the Orthopaedic Extremity Trauma team at Barts Health NHS Trust. This is an exciting opportunity to work within one of the UK’s most dynamic and high-volume trauma services, based at The Royal London Hospital — a Major Trauma Centre and one of Europe’s busiest.

The post-holder will be involved in the comprehensive management of complex orthopaedic trauma cases, including periarticular and long bone injuries, under the supervision of a highly experienced consultant faculty. Responsibilities will include the ward-based care of elective and emergency inpatients, participation in trauma operating lists, and involvement in outpatient follow-up clinics.

The fellowship provides extensive exposure to extremity trauma, allowing the post-holder to further develop their operative and clinical skills in managing multiply injured and complex trauma patients. The post is supervised primarily by Mr Peter Bates and Miss Homa Arshad, with opportunities to work alongside the broader trauma and limb reconstruction team to ensure a diverse and high-quality training experience.

This role is ideal for a Post CCT trainee looking to consolidate trauma experience prior to a substantive consultant appointment.

For more information, please contact Peter Bates, Consultant Trauma & Orthopaedics surgeonpeter.bates2@nhs.net, or Homa Arshad, Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedics surgeonhoma.arshad@nhs.net.
