Job description

We are currently looking for a ST3-ST5 Trust doctor in Gastroenterology at the William Harvey Hospital, Ashford, covering a Gastroenterology ward and occasional outliers. This is a gastroenterology-specific role based on the Gastroenterology ward with in-reach into ED for Gastroenterology patients. These posts will be for 12 months in the first instance.

The role involves duties on a full shift basis of 40 hours. There is no GIM requirement for this role.

East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. All positions working regularly or unsupervised with children or vulnerable adults require an enhanced DBS disclosure. Other posts require standard checks. The appointee will communicate and liaise with other medical and service departments, GPs, and agencies like district nursing and Social Services.

The appointee will cover for colleagues' absences, including on-call duties, at short notice. Additional hours outside the rota will be paid at nationally agreed rates and will comply with relevant legislation.

The post holder will participate in training junior staff, supervise, educate, and assist medical students. They should also engage in clinical audit, journal club, and departmental teaching sessions. Regular appraisals and CPD participation are expected.
