Job summary

Applications are invited for one post based at the Royal London Hospital to commence on 1 October 2025 for a period of one year. These posts provide an excellent opportunity for training for an obstetric trainee, sonographer or midwife sonographer with solid obstetric ultrasound skills who wishes to pursue exposure in Fetal Medicine. A MINIMUM of 12 months experience in hands-on obstetric ultrasound is essential. Candidates without any ultrasound experience will NOT be shortlisted.

Main duties of the job

The duties and job plan outlined below are not definite or exhaustive and may be changed in accordance with the needs of the service and the applicant's interests and preferences. This will follow discussion with the Lead Clinician for Fetal Medicine.

To work within the Fetal Medicine Centre at Barts Health or in the other Fetal medicine Units within Barts Health to carry out ultrasound screening, diagnosis and management of pregnancies complicated by fetal conditions (Mon-Fri 09:00-18:00)To ensure that good liaison exists between the Fetal Medicine team and professionals within the same specialty or other specialties involved in the antenatal counselling, diagnostic work-up and perinatal management of pregnancies complicated by fetal conditionsTo work within the guidelines of care outlined in the local Obstetric Ultrasound and Fetal Medicine Guidelines.To work closely with midwives, nurses, SHOs, SpR colleagues and ConsultantsTo take part to clinical research activities within the Unit
