A leading defense organization is seeking a Trials, Integration and System Validation Engineer to join their team in Bristol. This role involves planning and conducting system testing and trials for the FCASW Weapon System, with opportunities for travel within the UK and abroad. Candidates should have broad experience in systems integration and validation. A hybrid working model is available, allowing 2-3 days per week on-site.

Trials, Integration and System Validation Engineer

We are looking for a Trials, Integration and System Validation Engineer to join the Trials, Integration and Systems Validation team on the FCASW project.

Salary: Circa £46,000 depending on experience

Dynamic (hybrid) working: 2-3 days per week on-site due to workload classification

Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship

Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.

The opportunity:

The role is as part of a team undertaking functional integration testing, equipment qualification and development testing for the FCASW Weapon System. The project is in its early stages and provides an opportunity to influence the proving and design of the system.

The role will include the planning and conduct of lab based, system testing, at MBDA facilities, and also opportunities to conduct trials activities at external stakeholder locations in the UK and the USA.

The role could involve development opportunities to provide trials support to other short term projects, within MBDA.

What we're looking for from you:

We are looking for a Trials, Integration and System Validation Engineer who has broad experience and would be responsible for some of the following:

  • Deliver of trials in a number of environments, including:
    • Virtualised software platforms;
    • Lab-based integration and functional rigs;
    • Platform integration and acceptance trials;
    • System of Systems integration trials.
  • Support safe and reliable trials, including developing and maintaining risk assessments, management of hardware and software assets and control of hardware and software configuration.
  • Liaise with the systems engineering team and design teams to ensure adequate trials data is acquired and to investigate and resolve design issues.
  • Analyse and report on in-depth analysis of the system behaviour across its internal and external interfaces.
  • Conduct and support failure investigations.
  • Work with stakeholders across the project, from within partner companies and from the customer community, to plan trials to demonstrate integration and gather evidence to qualify MBDA Weapon Systems onto platforms.

This role will involve travel within the UK, with possible opportunities to travel abroad.

  • System Assessment and Acceptance;
  • Software Test;
  • Network Integration and Proving;
  • Automated System Verification and Analysis.

Experience in these areas would also be beneficial, though formal and on-the-job training will be available:

  • Experience with software and script writing, for either analysis or developing tooling;
  • Experience with the IBM Engineering Lifecycle Management toolset;
  • Experience with the Jira management toolset.
