Job description

Location: Dundreggan Estate, Glenmoriston, Inverness, IV63 7YJ

Salary: £22,948 - £25,374 per year pro rata

Contract Type: Temporary

Position Type: Part Time

Hours: 14 hours per week

Overview: Be part of improving native tree supply in Scotland. The Tree Seed Collection Project, delivered in partnership with Woodland Trust Scotland, supports the restoration of ancient Scottish Rainforest, native woodlands, and the establishment of Woodland Crofts across western Scotland and the Islands.

The project is funded by Woodland Trust Scotland, thanks to support from players of People’s Postcode Lottery and other supporters, including the Trees for Life Wild Seed Appeal, the BrITE Foundation, the Clean Planet Foundation, and Ella’s Kitchen.

Role Description: You will support the Project Officer in coordinating volunteers and collecting tree seeds from target species and areas across Scotland (including the west coast, islands, and Affric Highlands) to address native tree shortages and support partner organizations with a local provenance seed supply.

Typical Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Project Officer with volunteer event coordination and administrative tasks.
  • Help create content for social media platforms.
  • Manage the collection and onward journey of tree seeds gathered by volunteers.
  • Handle administration and data management of seed batches.
  • Participate in seed collection activities, partnership events, and engagement activities.
  • Assist with landowner permissions for seed collection.
