Job summary

Carrington Blake Recruitment is seeking a Tree Officer for Haringey Council to support the management of approximately 40,000 Council-owned trees across the borough. The role is predominantly outdoors, with some office work, and involves surveys, inspections and recording data on Confirm Arboriculture.

You will work with internal teams and contractors to deliver the borough-wide tree inspection and maintenance programme, while complying with Health & Safety and statutory requirements.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years’ experience working within the arboricultural industry.
• Recognised Arboricultural qualification relevant to the role.
• Ideally a Level 3/4 Arboricultural qualification or equivalent.
• Experience undertaking tree surveys and inspections.
• Good knowledge of tree biology, pests, diseases and disorders.
• Knowledge of tree work operations and their impact on trees.

Responsibilities

• Undertake surveys and inspections of Council-owned trees across the borough.
• Assess tree health, condition, defects, pests, diseases and potential risks.
• Accurately record inspection and survey information on Confirm Arboriculture.
• Prepare and monitor tree work schedules in line with contract requirements and relevant legislation.
• Monitor the completion of tree works and liaise with contractors where required.
• Work closely with internal teams including Highways, Housing and Parks.
• Respond promptly and professionally to customer enquiries and service requests relating to Council trees.
• Keep Confirm records updated and ensure relevant stakeholders are informed of planned and reactive works.
• Apply arboricultural legislation, industry best practice and professional judgement when making decisions.
• Clearly explain and justify arboricultural decisions to colleagues, contractors and members of the public.
• Ensure all work is undertaken in accordance with Health & Safety, Data Protection and other statutory requirements.

About the Role

Haringey Council is looking for an experienced and qualified Tree Officer to support the management of approximately 40,000 Council-owned trees across the borough.

You will be responsible for carrying out tree surveys and inspections, assessing tree condition and identifying required works. You will accurately record inspection information on the Confirm Arboriculture asset management system using a tablet and help deliver the Council’s borough-wide tree inspection and maintenance programme.

This is a predominantly outdoor role, involving regular walking and working independently across the borough, alongside some office and computer-based work.
