Job summary

NWG (Northumbrian Water Group) is seeking a Water Treatment Works Controller to operate and monitor treatment assets across the Essex supply area, ensuring water quality and compliant processes in all conditions.

You will perform routine water quality analyses, adjust treatment processes, monitor flow rates, and conduct plant checks. Full training is provided; a driving licence and willingness to work outdoors are advantageous.

Qualifications

  • Good IT skills and the ability to analyse and interpret data to identify process issues.
  • Experience with technical environments and data interpretation is desirable.
  • Full driving licence is preferred for site coverage.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and control key Water Treatment Assets across the Essex operational area.
  • Conduct fault investigations and take appropriate corrective actions.
  • Carry out routine water quality analyses and adjust treatment processes.
  • Monitor and control flow rates, perform plant checks and front-line maintenance.
  • Complete both paper and electronic records; undertake validation checks on instrumentation.
  • Respond to diverse conditions; provide 24/7 service to customers.

About The Role

We now have an opportunity for a Treatment Works Controller to join the team who operate & maintain Water Treatment Assets across our Essex Supply Area.

Working as part of a team, you will be responsible for operating and controlling key Water Treatment Assets across our Essex operational area. Within this role you will conduct tasks in all conditions to ensure these assets operate correctly and efficiently, undertaking fault investigations and appropriate actions when issues are found.

You will need to have good IT skills and be able to analyse and interpret various pieces of information to identify process issues and optimise the assets’ performance.

You’ll carry out routine water quality analysis, adjusting treatment processes, monitoring, and controlling flow rates, undertaking plant checks, front line maintenance tasks, validation checks on various types of instrumentation and completion of both paper and electronic records.

Full training will be provided to undertake the various technical aspects of this role.

This role has also been defined as a safety or security critical role and as a condition of a formal offer of employment you’ll be required to undergo a drug and alcohol test.

Prospective employees and agency workers in defined safety and security critical roles will be required to undertake a drug and alcohol test after the job offer has been made. This will be prior to or within four weeks of their start date.

Prospective employees and agency workers who fail a pre-employment urine drug screen will have their sample analysed by the Company appointed laboratory as a matter of course. Failing a pre-employment drugs or alcohol test may lead to the job offer being revoked

Our Treatment Works Controllers play a key role in maintaining the quality and quantity of water through our treatment sites and processes; therefore, we are looking for people who have a strong focus on quality and are comfortable with the analysis and interpretation of data. We need people who are happy to undertake a variety of tasks in all conditions and enjoy working outside, as well as inside, providing a 24/7 service to our customers - whatever the weather!
