Treasurer

We are looking for a Treasurer to support us here at Bedhampton Community Centre CIO. Our current Treasurer is coming to the end of her term; however, there is plenty of time to do a good, thorough and helpful handover.

Our treasurer can volunteer from home or from the Community Centre office. We are looking for someone who can:

• Report on the financial stability of the community centre by overseeing, approving and presenting budgets, accounts and financial statements to the Trustees and the Annual General Meeting.
• Ensure that the centre keeps its appropriate reserves.
• Ensure that bills have been paid and oversee the banking and accounting (completed by the centre manager and the finance officer).
• Liaise with paid staff and volunteers about financial matters.
• Ensure that the yearly accounts are prepared and disclosed in the form required by funders and statutory bodies (e.g., The Charity Commission).
• Ensure that the accounts are scrutinised in the manner required (independent examination or audit) and any recommendations are implemented.

You will need to be able to use internet banking, and familiarity with QuickBooks would be a bonus.

Skills

• The time commitment required will vary - generally 1-3 hours per week.
• 5 meetings per year (4 Trustee meetings plus the AGM).
• Knowledge of bookkeeping and financial management.
• Good financial analysis skills.
• Ability to communicate clearly with staff and fellow volunteers.
• Willingness to devote the necessary time and effort.
