Job description

Bath Mind is a local mental health charity operating in Bath and North East Somerset, which aims to support people with their mental health and wellbeing. We passionately believe in the inherent value of every individual and strive to create an environment where everyone in our community feels respected, supported and included through a variety of housing, services and wellbeing groups. Although we are part of the National "Mind" federation, we operate entirely independently from them and other Local Mind Charities.

We have an exciting vacancy for a Treasurer (Trustee) on the Board of Trustees. The specific responsibilities of the Treasurer position include:

  • Distilling and presenting financial information to the Board using their valuable expertise to input into the financial direction and strategy of the organisation;

  • Leading our Finance Sub-Committee and liaising with our Finance Manager; and,

  • Acting as a point of contact for our Auditors.

In addition to the above, the Treasurer as a trustee would:

  • Show commitment to Bath Mind's vision, mission values and strategy.

  • Understand the legal duties they owe to the Charity

  • Exercise sound judgement and professional scepticism, able to think creatively and engage in constructive debate and discussion.

The Treasurer position lends itself to candidates with:

  • Accountancy experience and qualifications;

  • Experience of charity accounting (e.g. Prior Treasurer positions, charity finance roles, charity audits);

  • Alignment in the charitable aims, Bath Mind's vision, mission values and strategy (or perhaps lived experience).

While specific qualifications are listed, we also value equivalent experience that demonstrates your ability to succeed in this role. If you have developed relevant financial skills through practical experience, or other routes, we encourage you to apply.

EDIE is at the core of our values, and we acknowledge that our EDIE journey is a collective responsibility that requires continued investment. We welcome applications from individuals from all personal and professional backgrounds, irrespective of race, ethnicity, gender, age, disability, sexual orientation, religion, belief, socio-economic background, neurodiversity, lived experience or any other characteristics. Whether you’re new to governance or an experienced Trustee, if you feel you would add value to Bath Mind’s strategic purpose and direction, we would love to hear from you.

Trustee induction and training will be provided where appropriate, and you will be fully supported by our Chair of Trustees, Board colleagues and the Senior Leadership Team.
