Travelling Communities Outreach & Engagement Worker

Salary: £13,122 (FTE £25,235)

Hours: 19.5 hours per week

Contract type: Permanent

Location: Wiltshire

The Role

Join our dedicated Gypsy, Roma, Traveller, and Boater (GRTB) Service team and take on a truly meaningful role! This is a fantastic opportunity to actively engage with and support travelling communities across Wiltshire and Bath & North East Somerset. Your work will take you to a variety of locations, including council and private sites, as well as roadside stops, where you'll make a tangible difference.

As part of this role, you'll collaborate closely with our team and partner agencies to ensure a seamless and comprehensive service for all clients. Your key responsibilities will include conducting thorough strengths and risk assessments, regularly reviewing progress, and co-creating personalised support plans that reflect each individual's unique needs and preferences. By prioritising client involvement at every step, you'll empower them to take charge of their journey with your guidance.

Responsibilities Include
  • Progress and track referrals made to the service
  • Provide clients with information and ensure an enabling service so that the appropriate services can be accessed
  • Keep accurate and timely records of all client interactions
  • Support clients to engage in consultation events both within the organisation and in the wider community
  • Since job descriptions cannot be exhaustive; the post holder may be required to undertake other duties, which are broadly in line with the above key responsibilities
Qualifications / Requirements
  • A valid UK driving licence and access to own vehicle - business insurance will be required for roles involving travel to work
  • Empathy and understanding of the needs of Julian House clients
  • Enthusiasm for supporting individuals from under-served communities and having an open-minded, non-judgmental approach
