An exciting role at Warrington Borough Council for an Independent Travel Training Programme Lead. The position involves leading and coordinating travel training for children and young adults, especially those with special educational needs. You'll design bespoke training, support a team of trainers, and engage with key stakeholders, ensuring accessibility and quality service. An exciting and rewarding opportunity has come up in the People's Directorate, leading on developing and delivery of an in-house Independent Travel Training programme for children and young adults, including special educational needs or disabilities (SEND), assisting them to travel independently in order to access education, training, employment and/or day activity settings. This role will guide and support a team of Travel Trainers, ensuring robust risk management is in place and delivery of an effective high standard of service.
This role will lead on the planning, co-ordination and delivery of travel training, working directly and closely with children, young people and their parents/guardians, in order to design bespoke training programmes and courses that are reflective of their needs and aspirations.
As an ambassador for the travel training programme, you will be working with key stakeholders in schools, colleges, council services and health professionals, ensuring all programmes are fit for purpose and accessible for all children and young people.
You will oversee and support a team of Travel Trainers and ensure robust risk management and quality individual support plans are in place, ensuring the safeguarding of children and young people at all times.
You will have a Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training and experience of designing and delivering a programme to children and young people. You will have experience of assessing a child/young persons needs and putting in place measurable and achievable targets, that encourage and support the development of skills towards independence. You will have experience of dealing with complex and challenging situations, with a solution focused approach, and will have a good knowledge of public transport.
