Job summary

Compass Community is seeking a Therapeutic Practitioner to work across Therapeutic Services and Residential children’s homes, guiding staff in trauma-informed practice and supporting traumatised young people.

You will ideally be based in or around Cottingham and will train staff, develop reflective groups, and help ensure practice aligns with government standards while promoting anti-discriminatory ethics and a compassionate care ethos.

Qualifications

  • Minimum two years' hands-on experience working with children in the Child in Care Sector.
  • Proven track record of effective collaboration with various stakeholders involved in children's lives.
  • Robust understanding of the presentations of Complex and Developmental Trauma.
  • Evidence of Therapeutic Training/Qualifications, even those actively underway will be considered.
  • Confident and resilient.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with fluent English proficiency.
  • Evidence of literary ability to Level 5/A level standard.
  • Ability to travel away for work 4 times per year.
  • Possession of a full driving license.
  • Commitment to anti-discriminatory ideology.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Therapeutic Service and Residential staff teams with trauma-informed practices.
  • Train staff in therapeutic ideologies, develop understanding, and facilitate reflective groups with carers and managers.
  • Contribute to the SEW Assessment process for all young people and guide staff in Professional Therapeutic development.
  • Help staff recognise the impact of trauma on child development and promote therapeutic understanding within Children’s services.
  • Ensure the service aligns with Government legislation, regulations and standards and reflects Compass’s vision and values.
