Job summary

Academics is recruiting PRU Teaching Assistants for a school in Merthyr Tydfil. The role covers day-to-day and short- to long-term supply, with emphasis on pupils with challenging behaviour and trauma-informed practice.

You will support pupils across primary and secondary levels, helping them engage with learning and maintain a calm, supportive classroom environment. DBS and EWC registration are essential.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with social, emotional and behavioural needs.
• Work with primary and secondary-aged pupils.
• Support pupils who display challenging behaviour.
• Use trauma-informed approaches to build trust.
• Encourage emotional regulation and positive behaviour.
• Help pupils engage with learning and classroom activities.
• Provide one-to-one and small-group support as required.
• Work closely with teachers and school staff.
• Help create a safe, calm learning environment.
• Follow individual support plans and behaviour strategies.
• Maintain safeguarding standards and school procedures.
