Job summary

Barnardo's is seeking an experienced therapist to deliver specialist interventions for children in foster placements across the North West. The role sits within the Foster Well service, offering psycho-educative and therapeutic support to children and their carers.

You will hold a diploma in counselling/therapy, be accredited with an approved body such as BACP, and have case management experience. Some travel and a driving car are beneficial for this role.

Qualifications

• Diploma level qualification in counselling, child and adolescent psychotherapy, art, play, drama or music therapy.
• Minimum 3 years post qualifying experience as a therapist in emotional wellbeing and mental health.
• Accredited with a recognised body (eg BACP).

Responsibilities

• Provide therapeutic interventions for children in foster placements.
• Provide psycho-educative and therapeutic support for carers.
• Carry out assessments and training; maintain high quality case notes.
• Attend multi‑agency meetings and represent Barnardo's externally.
• Promote safeguarding and respond to child protection concerns.
• Travel across the North West region to deliver interventions.
