As the Transportation Specialist you are responsible for developing, executing, and monitoring certain steps of transportation processes and the support of executing strategies with Category Supply on suppliers, transportation service providers (carriers), in conjunction with Caterpillar facilities and Caterpillar dealers, developing transportation practices, gathering, and documenting customer requirements and executing based on those requirements.

What You Will Do:

  • Manage communication and collaboration with suppliers, transportation service providers (carriers), Caterpillar facilities, and Caterpillar dealers on identified process defects.

  • Identify, implement, and monitor process improvements that will enable operations to improve the transportation/logistics network, reduce risk, and enhance the ability to become a high velocity organization.

  • Collaborate with transportation supplier base to manage performance and improve current service offerings.

  • Eliminate safety / quality risks and focus on cost optimization for all transportation related activities

  • Support and manage external transportation and logistics practices with cross-docks, carriers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and consolidators/3rd party providers.

  • Provide direction and monitor performance of transportation service providers.

About You:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, Industrial Engineering or related field or demonstrable progressive job-related experience

  • Excellent communication skills - both written and verbal - and excellent active listening skills.

  • Knowledge of one or more of the following: Transportation (domestic and/or international), manufacturing, supply chain management or data analytics.

  • Demonstrated strong analytic capabilities, including knowledge, and demonstrated use of analytics software (e.g. Tableau, Power BI, MiniTab, SAS, or similar tools)

What You May Also Have:

  • Able to work effectively across all levels in the organization.

  • Team player and able to work across different departments.

  • Master’s degree in Business or supply chain related field

  • Project Management experience

Salary: £55,500-£67,500 depending on experience SG23
