Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to join our Rail Systems Engineering team. You will work within Telent's division dedicated to maintaining the UK rail network, serving clients like Transport for London, Network Rail, and various Train Operating Companies.
Reporting to the Lead Safety and Security Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering project upgrades mainly across Network Rail, TFL, TFGM infrastructure. Your role includes survey, design, and technical aspects of SISS within a Rail environment.
Typical Deliverables
- Experience in system design, survey, and technical engineering within SISS.
- Potentially lead in creating new product or service ideas, drawing up plans for new designs.
- Manage projects from initial design through to production and installation.
- Develop detailed technical plans for ideas and concepts.
- Apply mathematical and scientific skills to develop practical solutions.
- Select appropriate materials for new products or constructions.
- Forecast accurate project costs.
- Complete technical and regulatory documentation.
- Ensure quality control and oversee construction, development, and deployment of systems.
Responsibilities
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of your engineering discipline and related fields.
- Coordinate testing of products, systems, software, or infrastructure.
- Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Develop personal engineering skills continuously.
- Solve complex problems with innovative perspectives.
- Work independently with minimal guidance.
- Lead projects or project phases; hold accountability for ongoing activities.
- Mentor less experienced colleagues.
- Comply with QEHS standards.
Skill Requirements
- Technical experience in SISS, engineering, design, and survey skills.
- Relevant licenses and certifications.
- Proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD, MicroStation, and other CAD software.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Teamwork and stakeholder management skills.
- Problem-solving passion and analytical skills.
